Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga - Aug. 2 to 4, 2013

  Weekend retreat

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Welcome to a weekend of yoga and beautiful nature!

Over the weekend we deepen ourselves in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga's primary series. We look at the purpose behind each position and find the connection between breath and movement.

The day ends with soft yoga breathing exercises and meditation that releases tension in the body and mind.

The weekend is suitable for all skill levels, where we have a Mysore class early in the morning followed by an introductory class with the foundation of Ashtanga Yoga.

Ashtanga yoga is a powerful, dynamic yoga method with its roots in Mysore, South India.
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is the founder of Ashtanga yoga. Pattabhi Jois was a disciple of Krischnamacharaya, commonly called the modern hathayogans father. Yoga gives you the tools to connect and heal yourself and makes you more aware , focused and balanced, both mentally and physically.
Breathing and movement are central to Ashtanga. You use special breathing techniques (ujjayi) while moving continuously, respiration connects various yoga postures (asanas) with some motion sequences (vinyasas). Breathing and flowing together with the so-called body locks (bandhas) creates an internal heat that causes you to sweat. The resulting heat makes you softer, more flexible, and also purifies the body, nerves, muscles, joints, toxins and waste products. Blood circulation is increased, oxygen is enhanced, the immune system is strengthened and the blood pressure is lowered. Energy flow is opened up and with regular practice you will be healthy, strong and supple.

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a dynamic form of yoga that helps you adjust, clean and balance the body, creating movement, strength and above all peace of mind. Get an experience which will leave your body grounded, the vision will become clear, and you will enter a state of peace. It is an ancient doctrine that for centuries have created peace of mind and great energy in the body.

"Do your practice and all is coming”
– Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois
